What’s Inside My Wardrobe: A Complete Closet Inventory

This post covers what my wardrobe looked like in fall 2016. Since then I’ve shared this updated closet inventory on my new blog, Where With Elle.   Three years ago I woke up early one morning, gazed deeply upon the sparkly baubles of my colorful closet and foggily pondered three questions: Who am I, what am I going to wear, and why is the theme song to “Reading Rainbow” stuck in my head? In retrospect the answer to that last quandary was obvious (and if RR is now stuck in your head, might I offer a soothing classic that will effectively obliterate anything else on your mind).

Summer Staples: Blue Ridge Mountains, Tennessee

All you really need in the summertime is a tall iced coffee, a mountain to climb, waterfalls and forests to explore with your favorite people and pups, and a few solid outfits that will breathe with you through the afternoon breeze. For a recent weekend getaway wandering the Blue Ridge Mountains of Tennessee, I packed a few trusty wardrobe staples along with some new favorites I’ve picked up this season.

Dog Days of Summer in North Georgia

“Don’t forget to stop by the garden on the way out,” my dad said last weekend, nodding down to rows and rows of emerald kale, Amish tomatoes, squash blossoms. We’d stopped off at his farm before embarking on the bends and twists of the road that winds around Lake Burton, to Lake Seed, to Lake Rabun. We left with the best cucumbers and tomatoes and greens which were shared all weekend with friends and family and each other as we basked in the Georgia sunshine and bathed in the cool waters of the headwaters of the Soque. It was a heavenly break from the stifling Atlanta heat. It wasn’t until sifting through pictures this morning that I realized the weekend home marked Rose & Fig’s third birthday – and also that this time two years ago, we were just getting acquainted with a timid, tiny, extremely incontinent puppy named Mud Bug. We renamed her Pimms Cup and rehomed her out of a short lifetime of apparent abuse, neglect, and starvation. Ever since her best friend …

Into the Forest: Lake Seed, Georgia

With the mercury rising past 100 in our neck of the woods, we thought it was high time to head out of Atlanta and into the mountains. The tonic of wildness was such a welcomed salve for the mind and body as we trekked up to the Chattahoochee National Forest this past weekend. Packing List: Summer Music Festival Glamping

Everlane backpack and v-neck, Lou & Grey shorts. Photos by Stu Haluski. I’m off to Washington, DC to kick off a week of champagne, girl talk, glamping, and killer music at Firefly Festival. Working through the details of what to bring on the trip, the bridesmaids and I put together a spreadsheet chock-full of festival essentials, tips and tricks, and a detailed packing list that is universally handy for any hot and humid summer festival – especially if you’re flying! From wardrobe to beauty bag to handy tools, this list covers everything I’m taking to DC and Deleware for six days… And it’s carry-on friendly! Save the glamping supplies and groceries, I’ve tucked every item on these lists into one Bric’s duffle and an Everlane backpack (more packing tips right this way). And whether the hot summer weather takes you to Firefly (say hi?) Bonaroo, Coachella, Hangout, or Ultra – and whether you’re camping, glamping, B&Bing, or couch surfing – safe travels and travel well!   JavaScript is currently disabled in this browser.
